Boracay Island, the most popular beach resort & travel destination in the Philippines, was ranked #7 in the ten Top Beaches in the world in May 2007 by both the Chicago Tribune & the New York Newsday, based on user ratings from Yahoo! Travel.

Tucked away on the far northwest end of Boracay Island is a quiet, short stretch of white sand known locally as the Balinghai Beach Boracay.

This is a private beach in the real sense of the word as it is enclosed by a high cliff wall on the eastern side, and can be accessed by going down the cliff, or a much easier option is to hire one of the local paraw boats or better still, join Captain Joey's Red Pirates Tours around the island and beyond.

We sailed to Balinghai Beach on a paraw (native sailing boat) with the Red Pirates. This is a quiet little private beach far removed from the busy White Beach.

There are 4 or 5 little cottages on the hillside, and a small restaurant at the top of the cliff serving lunches and fruit shakes.

If you don't fancy taking on all those steps (there are a lot) your food and drinks will be lowered down the cliff-side in a basket!

This little beach is very peaceful, and lovely for swimming and snorkeling.

You won't be bothered by vendors here as it's a private beach.

It's a great place to spend an afternoon - you won't want to leave!
