The Boracay Butterfly Garden was opened to the general public in April, 2005. It holds a Wildlife and Collector's Permit from the DENR/PAWB and is registered to breed butterflies. This garden originally started as a hobby in 2001 for Patrick Manion, a retired chemist from New Zealand and his Filipino wife, Adela Jaudian, who comes from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

One of it's specialties is providing live butterfly releases for weddings and other special occasions. It is situated on the Bulabog Beach, on a 1600 sq.m beachfront property, which is only a 4 minute walk from the D'Mall Shopping Center or a 7 minute walk from White Beach, via the path that runs on the north side of the BWSS.
Vehicular Access

Vehicle access to the Boracay Butterfly Garden is possible, taking the road running eastwards from Crafts of Boracay Supermarket, turning right at the Bloomfield School, and after 100m, turning left on the road that leads to the Bulabog Beach. It can also be accessed down the A1 road or English Bakery road, and a short walk along the Bulabog Beach. It is open daily from 8am to 5pm and charges 100 pesos for foreign adult visitors, 50 pesos for Philippine adult visitors, and 25 pesos for children.
Latest Update
In the early hours of 10th Dec.2006, a Signal 4 Typhoon hit Boracay Island and the island was devastated. A large hardwood tree crashed on top of the butterfly enclosure, weakening the structure, and the resulting wind did much damage.
A decision was made by the owners to dismantle the netted enclosure and make a decision later in 2007 on whether to rebuild it. Fully furnished, self-contained cottages, have been built on the same site and short and long term rents are available.
