The AWT takes advantage of the winds brought about by the northeast monsoon. According to Wikipedia, the northeastern winter monsoon in Asia occurs between December and early March.
During this period, northeasterly winds blow across south Asia towards Australia.
The Asian countries that participate in the annual event are Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Windsurfing and Kiting
Sirenna's comments updated on Sep 4, 2005, in VirtualTourist.
Whether you want to join in or just watch, in high season these activities go on at Bulabug Beach on the eastern side of the island where it is more windy.
In low season when the wind changes, they all come over to White Beach. Bulabug Beach is quieter than White Beach, less tourists and vendors about.
For kiting lessons, contact Ocean Republic or Green Yard.
Address: Bulabog Beach
Directions: Eastern side of Boracay
