"My Second Home... I SHall Return"

by Olaf Villa-Ignacio
(Binangonan, Rizal, PHilippines)

I am Mr. Olaf Villa-Ignacio, and this is my story....

It was on March 10th, 2005, when my sister Erika, her Japanese fiance Takao Goto, and I embarked on our trip to the island of Boracay.

It was really not my plan at all to come with them. I wanted them to have a little privacy and enjoy ther stay in Boracay, but Takao Goto told my sister, and she relayed the message to me, that I had to come with them and serve as their tour guide which apparently I did. I bought a map and studied it for a night and before I knew it we were all together in Boracay.

We stayed in one of the luxurious hotels in Station 2 which is a good strategic location for we were really in front of the famous White Beach. The first day after our arrival, we stayed in and had a nap. My Japanese friend booked me my own room separate from theirs. It was a really expensive room. I could have stayed in a room for rent somewhere else but I still knew nothing of the Island.

Island hopping was one of the best things we did. For a cheap price of 900 pesos only, the boat sailed us to Crystal Cove Cave away from Boracay, we did snorkeling, we went to Puka Beach resort and stayed for a couple of hours as my Japanese friend wished.

I guess Puka resort was very much famous in Japan because even before we went there, Takao Goto kept asking me to bring him to Puka Beach Resort because he was told by his other Japanese friends who went to Boracay that it is one of the best places to go to. And he was so happy to see the place. We also went to see the kiteflying at the other side of Boracay... and went to see the Bat Caves.

Every night, we partied at the beach. We drank, dined, danced and sang our hearts out in a videoke there. A few of the best places we've been to were, Mango Rays, Fridays, Blue Mango, Paradizzo Grill Boracay and more.. and of course not to forget, Jonah's Fruit Shakes.

I remember an old church. I guess it was the only Catholic church in the island somewhere in Station One, where my sister used to stay. It was really a very solemn church. I hope to visit it again.

People of Boracay (the locals) were very generous to tell you where you needed to go if you were lost. It was very polite of them to render service without asking for anything in return. Mia, a beautiful woman, who happened to be a friend of my sister's and a resident of Boracay had given her time accommodating us and even invited us to stay and eat in ther house. We thank you Mia... hope to see you soon.

Public servants, such as the Police where very visible in the Island. Wherever we went, we would always see them. They stayed and watched every move of the people.

I shall return on the 14th of this month (Feb'10), and I cannot wait to see Boracay and its People again.

Maraming Salamat po.
