Palomaria Restaurant: Hidden Gem
We discovered Palomaria recently, while taking a stroll along Bulabug Beach, on the eastern side of the island. We came across a little sign pointing down a pathway just off the beach, and decided to investigate - and I'm glad we did. Palomaria is a lovely little hideaway, named after the large tree which grows over the restaurant and garden area. The place has a peaceful ambiance, with hanging shell mobiles and a cosy platform seating area with comfy cushions. The restaurant is located beside the Lazy Dog Guest House, which has four nice aircon rooms for rent, just seconds from the beach. The menu was both interesting and reasonably priced, and we decided on sandwiches and cold beer, watched by Milo, the original 'Lazy Dog'.
Favorite Dish: We ordered the Chicken Sandwich with mustard and apple slices, and the Tuna Melt (which turned out to be a large crusty baguette stuffed with tuna, olives, capers and mozarella - yum).Other appetising choices on the menu include the Choriburger with tomatoes and BBQ sauce, Mussels in white wine and mustard (for sharing), Seafood Soup, Grilled Veggie Salad with balsamic dressing, Brown Rice Risotto with wild mushrooms, Fish Kebabs, Swedish Meatballs and Vangie's Barbequed Chicken with creamy mashed potatoes. In the dessert section, I'm told the butter cake is a must-try.We'll definately be back for more!
